Frequently asked questions.

What to expect

What happens during a session?

Your session takes place at an outdoor location that suits your dog's personality, whether that's a Sarasota beach, a park near Bradenton, or a quiet trail in the Parrish area. You'll spend time walking, playing, and just being with your dog while I work around you capturing natural, genuine moments. I'll give you just enough direction to get the shot without it ever feeling like a formal photoshoot.

How long is a session?

Most sessions run an hour to an hour and a half, which gives us plenty of time for your dog to warm up, explore, and settle into their natural self. Dogs tend to do their best before they get tired or overstimulated.

Where do sessions take place?

I work entirely on location outdoors across the Suncoast, including Parrish, Palmetto, Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Riverview, Apollo Beach, and Venice. During your free consultation we'll pick the perfect spot based on your dog's personality and energy level.

What if my dog doesn't listen or won't sit still?

This is the number one thing clients worry about and it almost never matters. I don't need your dog to sit and stay. Running, sniffing, splashing, and doing their own thing often makes for the best portraits. I've worked with nervous dogs, high-energy dogs, and everything in between. We'll find what works for yours.

What if it rains or the weather is bad?

Florida weather can be unpredictable, especially in summer. If conditions aren't right for a great session we'll reschedule with no stress and no penalty. We want your portraits to be beautiful, and that means waiting for good light.

Leashes and Safety

Does my dog need to be on a leash?

Your dog will stay on leash throughout the session unless it's safe and appropriate to let them off. Any leash is removed with a little Photoshop magic before your final portraits are delivered, so you'd never know it was there.

Can I bring more than one dog?

Absolutely. Multi-dog sessions are a lot of fun. They take a bit more time and patience, and I'll factor that into our session planning during the consultation.

The Investment

How much does a session cost?

Wall art collections start at $795 and most clients invest between $1,000 and $1,500 depending on what they’d like to display in their home. Everything starts with a free consultation so there are no surprises. I’ll walk you through all your options at your image viewing appointment after the session.

What do I actually get?

You're not just getting digital files. You're getting heirloom-quality wall art, albums, and prints produced by professional labs you can't access on your own, including fine art mounted prints, acrylic, aluminum, and hand-crafted albums built to last decades. During your image viewing appointment we'll look at your portraits together and find the right pieces for your home.

Do you sell digital files?

Digital files are available as part of larger collections. I focus on wall art and albums because I want your portraits on your walls where you can actually enjoy them every day, not sitting in a folder on your computer waiting for a printing day that never comes.

Booking

How do I get started?

Click the "Schedule Your Free Consultation" button and we'll jump on a quick call. We'll talk about your dog, pick a location, and walk through the whole process so you know exactly what to expect.

How far in advance should I book?

A few weeks is usually enough, but if you have a specific date or location in mind, especially around the holidays, earlier is better.

Do you require a deposit to hold my session date?

Yes, a reservation retainer of $399 is required at booking to hold your date. This converts to a product credit you can put toward your order after the session.

After the Session

When will my images be ready?

Within 2 to 3 weeks of your session your images will be ready for selection. We'll schedule an image viewing appointment where we go through your favorites together and choose the portraits, wall art, and prints that are right for your home.

Can I share my photos on social media?

Absolutely, sharing is encouraged! I just ask that you credit Bill Piper Photography when you post. I may also share your portraits on my own page, which is always great exposure for your pup.
